CE
Required for CVT Certificate Renewals According to the Administrative
Rules (revised November 2008), CVTs are required to complete 10 credit hours of
Board-approved continuing education during the 2-year period preceding
certificate expiration. The following continuing education
is approved by the Board:
1. Continuing education taught in a veterinary technician school or school of
veterinary medicine.
2. Continuing education sponsored by the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association
or American Association of Veterinary State boards or approved by RACE.
3. Continuing education approved by the Board that is sponsored by a state or
national veterinary technician association or academy.
4. Continuing education approved by RACE of the American Association of Veterinary
State Boards.
5. Continuing education approved according to subsections (B) and (C). Many
of the programs offered by VHCTAz, sponsored through the AzVMA have been
approved for credit. If you are unsure about a particular VHCTAz program, please
contact the AzVMA office at 602.242.7936.

Update: Veterinary Technician National Examination
(VTNE)
2010 Eligibility Requirements
VHCTAz has received a policy update from the
American Association of Veterinary State Boards about the VTNE exam. Their board
has approved the following policy regarding eligibility to sit for the VTNE:
"After December 31, 2010, a VTNE candidate
must be a graduate of a veterinary technology program accredited by the AVMA or
the CVMA or a program approved by the regulatory board of the jurisdiction where
the examination is given."
